1. Grab an item
A waffle iron, a bike, a bobble head? What is is that you are no longer using. Look in your closet, cupboard, basement, attic, garage, and on your desk.  
  • What about an old Xbox console? 
  • One too many kitchen appliances among your roommates? 
  • Equipment from a sport you no longer fancy? 
  • A splurgy clothing item you ended up barely wearing?
  • Books that other folks could enjoy? 
  • Gift cards and daily deals that you won't use?

2. Sell it
Online, simple. Front yard, works too. Together with friends and your community, fun!  Here are a few ideas...

First, post online or via your mobile (simple)

Or, host a community yard sale or meet up
Invite friends over to your yard.  Everyone bring their items and sells together. 

Or, throw a #yardsale4obama party
Invite friends to meet up at your house or a fun spot in town with wifi.  Everyone brings their item.  Help each other photograph and list items online. Promote the items you're all selling via social media using the #yardsale4obama and #yardsaleitforward hashtags, so we can RT (re-tweet) your items for sale.

Then, promote what you're selling. Here's how.

Craigslist (perfect especially if you are selling in your front yard!)
Publish your sale on Craigslist so everyone in your area knows about it.  Here's an example - edit and use for your posting. Tip: we included a link to the pinterest.com album where we'd be putting pictures of what's for sale.  Pictures attract shoppers!

Create a 'Yard Sale for Obama' board on your pinterest page.  Upload pictures of what you are selling (you can use their mobile app for iPhone to do this if you are selling at a community sale) adding the link to the Craigslist or similar posting to each item.
